Pediatrix Medical Group is seeking an experienced neonatologist to serve as Associate Medical Director for our established practice at Inova Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia. This is an excellent opportunity to further develop and grow in leadership. Applicants should have the following qualifications:
Board certification and a minimum of five years clinical experience in a NICU
Hospital medical staff membership upon hiring
Desire to be mentored into the role of Medical Director
Reputation for clinical excellence among physician's peers
Demonstrated skills in patient care, including experience with seeing well newborns
Desire to maintain a busy newborn service and support further growth of the NICU and newborn nursery
Commitment to working with and providing ongoing training and education to NNPs
Experience serving at various levels on hospital committees (participation with other professional societies/organizations a plus)
Demonstrated ability with developing and implementing clinical or quality improvement programs
Interest and ability to teach
Skills in leadership, consensus building, teamwork and effective communication
Inova Alexandria offers a 16-bed, Level-III NICU with 350 admissions annually and an average daily census of 13-15 NICU babies and 17-19 babies in the newborn nursery. The practice is staffed by 5 physicians and 3 NNPs who provide 24-hour in-house coverage of the NICU and newborn nursery. The unit has the capability of offering conventional and high-frequency ventilation. Whole body cooling, iNO and surgical cases are transferred to a local tertiary children's hospital. Two perinatologists are on staff and sub-specialty support is available by phone, with a full complement of pediatric sub-specialists 20 minutes away. Inova Alexandria has earned Baby Friendly designation. The practice is heavily invested in quality and safety initiatives, and the NICU staff has a strong philosophy of family-centered care.
