Director of Infection Prevention / Employee Health
Reporting to the Chief Quality Officer and Vice President of Human Resources, and in collaboration with the Medical Director of the Wound Care Program/Infection Prevention, the Director of Infection Prevention/Employee Health (IP/EH) has accountability for the overall Infection Prevention and Employee Health Programs at RML Specialty Hospital. The Director of IP/EH is responsible for the prevention of infection and injury to patients, visitors and staff at RML Specialty Hospital. These responsibilities include:
Serves as the Infection Prevention Officer for RML Specialty Hospital
Develops and oversees a system for identifying, reporting, investigating and controlling infections and communicable diseases of patients, visitors and personnel
Ensure the ongoing monitoring of the effectiveness of prevention and control activities related to Infection Prevention and Employee Health.
Serves as a liaison between all departments and the Performance Improvement and Human Resources departments with respect to issues of Infection Prevention and Employee Health.
Develops and oversees a system to monitor visitors for risk of spreading infectious diseases within the hospital and develop policies and protocols to mitigate those risks.

Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with staff, patients, families, medical staff, and other members of the healthcare team.
Ability to engage in logical, critical thinking to solve problems.
Ability to perform light physical work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on an occasional basis, performing such activities as figuring, grasping, lifting, reaching, crouching and repetitive tasks.
Ability to walk briskly to all areas of the hospital.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Minimum of 5 years experience in Infection Prevention in an acute care setting.
Demonstrated knowledge of applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations related to Infection Prevention.
Proficiency with computer applications (word processing, database and graphics)
Illinois Registered Nurse
National certification in Infection Prevention (i.e. APIC)
Demonstrated knowledge of applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations related to Workers Compensation and OSHA
Masters Degree in Nursing, Business Administration or a related health care field.
Two plus years experience in Occupational Medicine or Employee Health field.
