DESCRIPTION: Under the direct supervision of the Director of Pharmacy or the Registered Pharmacist and according to standing procedures dispense, prepare, and distribute medications and I.V.s for all patient age groups per hospital policies and procedures, and perform other related duties.
Major Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:
Prepare, dispense, and distribute medication orders and IVs per prescribers orders-Maintain logs and reports on dispensing activities on daily basis-Make rounds to deliver medications to and from medication rooms and patient care areas-Retrieve unused medications from care areas, return to pharmacy and restock as appropriate -Verify all orders with pharmacists on duty, inform pharmacist of any medications including antibiotics that do not seem in line with patient's condition or previous medications-Order and restock medication shelves as required including to off-site locations-Answers telephone calls, and relay any messages as needed-Clean and maintain medication and IV work area (IV hoods, medication shelves, crash cart areas, store room, etc) and department in neat and orderly manner-The above statement reflects the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the jobs as identified, and shall not be considered a detailed listing of all work requirements that may be inherent in the job.
REQUIREMENTS: Registration in NJ as a Pharmacy Technician; current NJ registration required. High School Graduate or equivalent; Associate degree preferred. 1 year Pharmacy experience preferred.
