Responsible for directing and leading in all aspects of Annual Giving and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) fundraising efforts for The Children's Hospital of San Antonio Foundation, which supports The Children's Hospital of San Antonio. Serves as a part of the Major Gift team, manages all aspects of a portfolio of approximately 50 major gift prospects, and will steward these relationships for the Foundation. The Director of Philanthropy is a key partner in building a strategic fundraising program to include major gifts, special events and annual giving.
Serves as a member of the Foundation Management Team. In this role, he/she has an essential partnership responsibility for the development and execution of the strategic plan for the Foundation office (both Friends and Children's Foundations).
In this role, as a member of the Foundation Management Team, the Director is expected to work with her/his peers in a manner that exhibits strength, purpose, collaboration, partnership and understanding. Must be able to think creatively, with the ability to accept a reasonable level of risk, and be open to routine change.
The Director is responsible for the recruitment, management, evaluation and professional development of fundraising staff while managing a portfolio of individual prospects and donors.
Works closely with the VP/CDO, VP Foundation, health system leadership, board members, and volunteers to ensure development needs are met successfully; and ensuring that broader development objectives are integrated and coordinated.
Serves as a member of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Leadership Forum through active participation in meetings with implementation of key CHRISTUS Health strategies and programs.
Bachelor's Degree Preferred. In case of exceptional leadership experience with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Fundraising and/or Annual Giving Fundraising, the degree requirement may be waived and a combination of work experience and education may be considered.
A minimum of ten (10) years' experience, with eight (8) preferred in fund development, including experience in all basic areas of fund raising.
Three (3) years management of fundraising program and staff preferred.
Experience in leading or supervising a Children's Miracle Network Hospital Program is strongly preferred.
Experience in managing volunteer is highly desirable.
Experience in health care fundraising is highly desirable.
Knowledge and success in working in San Antonio/South Texas market is a plus.
C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification preferred but not required
