The Unit Secretary/Patient Care Associate, under the direct supervision of the Program Director, and/or designee, performs receptionist, clerical and secretarial activities, as well as medical record duties. The Unit Secretary functions as the central communication source at the nursing station. The Unit Secretary will also cross train to assist with patient care responsibilities, such as assisting patients with ADL's, taking vital signs, and providing one to one and group supervision to patients. All methods of practice shall conform to written hospital policies and procedures and be carried out to the highest achievable level of competence in a manner demonstrating concern and consideration. The Unit Secretary/Patient Care Associate will demonstrate the RWJBarnabas philosophy to Total Quality Management by actively applying that philosophy in all dealings with both internal and external customers.
High school diploma or equivalent. Medical Secretarial School or equivalent, preferred. Knowledge of medical/psychiatric terminology and medication preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Word preferred. Experience in medical transcription preferred.
