Work Type: Full Time M-F with weekend and holiday on call.Must be flexible and able to work 2nd shift 4PM – 12:30PM
Provides leadership and direction to GWV Admissions, Emergency Department Registration, Insurance Verification, Cashiers, Endoscopy, Outpatient Registration, Heart Hospital Registration, and Same Day Surgery Registration. Ensures accurate and timely registration. Supports the Revenue Cycle Training and Development Program to ensure all Patient Access Personnel, both new and current employees receive appropriate training.
Supports internal and external customer needs and offers input to the Director of Patient Access Services on process improvement to meet the needs of the department.
Provides effective communication to and among patients, providers, facilities, and system wide functions. Participates in the development of customer and client relationships within the Geisinger Health System as well as other organizations with an interest in collaboration.
Fosters a service-oriented environment, which facilitates teamwork, local and system wide, toward a goal of customer satisfaction by exceeding expectations. Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide the highest quality patient care and complete customer satisfaction.
Reports to the Director of Patient Access Services and is responsible for the daily operations of all assigned Patient Access Service areas.
Competencies and Skills:
Assures values, goals and objectives of the system are reflected in all Patient Access Services areas policies and procedures.
Coordinates employee's schedules and manages employee performance to ensure proper coverage.
Provides direct assistance as needed relative to Registration, Insurance Verification functions, and WorkQue maintenance.
Assists with Human Resources issues, such as performance evaluation, recruitment, hiring and adherence to hospital policies and taking disciplinary action as required.
Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Education and or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field required. Minimum of five years experience in Patient Access Services, scheduling, registration, Revenue Management, business office or supervisory/management required.
Associate's degree in accounting, business, or related field required. Minimum of eight years experience in Patient Access Services, scheduling, registration, Revenue Management, business office or supervisory/management required.
In lieu of degree, may consider a minimum of 10 years experience in Patient Access Services, scheduling, registration, Revenue Management, business office or supervisory/management required.
Certification as a Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) preferred.
Work is typically performed in an office environment.
