Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
As the multi-specialty group practice for the faculty of the University of Minnesota Medical School, University of Minnesota Physicians has more than 950 physicians and 1,600 health professionals, providing clinical care in over 100 specialty and sub-specialty areas. Supervises and manages inpatient hematology and oncology advanced practice providers.
Responsibilities include training, management of staff performance, hires, coaching, supervision of skill development for inpatient hematology/oncology APPs.
Coordinates and approves schedules and timecards, completes performance reviews and goal setting. Fesponsible for promoting program changes to optimize the efficiency and financial viability of the inpatient HOT NP/PA role.
The majority (80%) of the job is in direct care of hematology/oncology patients.
Master’s Degree, Certification as an Adult or Family NP, Certification as a PA, License and registration per state requirements
At least 3 years of full-time experience in oncology/hematology or hospital medicine
Excellent mentoring and organizational skills. Knowledge of coaching, staffing, performance evaluation, and scheduling. Ability to engage and motivate professionals. Demonstrated ability to work independently in a clinical setting; superior decision-making skills; superior written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to critique, provide insight and develop creative solutions to practice changes which promote NP/PA practice and productivity. Must effectively communicate with multidisciplinary team, directors and administrators regarding NP/PA practice concerns.
Advanced study in leadership and management such as a DNP or MBA
APRN or PA with 1 or more years of clinical supervisory/personnel management experience
Ability to grow practice/retain inpatient HOT team by training and coaching NP/Pas to provide exceptional patient care
Works effectively within a multidisciplinary health care team to provide outstanding patient care.
