POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Director, Perioperative Services, the Perioperative Business Manager is an integral member of the perioperative leadership team responsible for establishing and maintaining effective systems support in the areas of financial, business and support functions for perioperative services. This position is responsible for supporting surgical growth strategy execution through partnership with service line and business development functions. This position provides oversight to schedule coordination and leads physician satisfaction improvement strategies. This position also oversees all financial (reporting, analytics, capital management, budgeting, among other areas) and billing and charge capture processes. He/she also oversees surgical supply chain, inventory management and leads vendor management in the perioperative space. He/she is also responsible for leading and/or supporting process improvement functions.
III. FUNCTIONAL EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: ? Supports Surgical Growth Strategy Execution � Participates on service line improvement initiatives, as well as various committees and project teams designed to achieve goals aligned with institutional and system directives. � Collaborates with service line teams, Chief Strategy Officer and business development teams in applying/implementing surgical growth tactics. � Develops business plans for new equipment and services, as well as case cost analyses. � Development of reports and data tools that support strategic plan initiatives within the department. ? Oversees Scheduling Coordination & Physician Satisfaction Improvement Strategies � Assumes a leadership role working with the physicians, supervisory and non-supervisory staff to integrate the institutional perspective in operating areas to achieve high levels of patient, physician, and employee satisfaction. � Supports and/or leads physician outreach strategies for continued voice of the customer insights � Oversees scheduling coordination through assurance that processes and systems support efficient scheduling and accessibility ? Leads Financial, Billing, Charge Capture Processes & Functions � Monitors departmental charge masters, billing, budget and variance reports, providing recommendations for improvement, simplification, compliance, etc. � Develops and maintains financial budget � Works with coders and financial resources to ensure accurate billing, rapid turnaround and tracking of volumes, expenses, etc. � Prepares financial analyses for new programs in Perioperative Services � Oversees surgical billing process to ensure that charge codes, data and charge entry, and revenue capture are accurate and complete. � Performs retrospective and concurrent quality and financial performance improvement assessments/reviews. � Designs procedures and methodologies for performance evaluation, revenue reporting, and supply/cost analysis and providing strategies for efficient delivery of high quality patient care. � Oversees the day-to-day business operations including Participates in preparing and evaluating current financial and inventory practices, charge audits, and statistical analysis of procedure costs and OR utilization � Responsible for financial and data analysis in the areas of budget preparation, monitoring of resource utilization, and identification and prioritization of capital needs. ? Leads Surgical Supply Chain, Inventory & Vendor Management Processes & Functions � The Business Manager must possess knowledge of surgical supplies and equipment, new technology support, supply chain enhancement and procurement and inventory management skills. � Partners with surgeons in regards to new products, trials and new technology, providing financial analysis and impacts in adopting new products. � Participates in Materials Committees and provides feedback and information to the Perioperative team and represents the interests within the group. � Supports leadership in the maintenance of the surgical preference cards in collaboration with the Clinical Resource Nurses. � Responsible and accountable for development and managing the business activities throughout the Perioperative Services Department, including equipment management, computerization, budgeting, and purchasing contractsDevelops, maintains and regularly reports cost analysis and supply performance metrics. � Serves as the key link to vendors and oversees instrument/supply inventory management � Leads contracting and contract management efforts ? Leads and/or Supports Process Improvement Efforts � He/she develops information tracking systems, preparing and displaying data concerning operations, improvement initiatives, and system changes. � This position has responsibility for developing, evaluating, and maintaining creative, progressive, internal documentation and external reports to support the operational and strategic needs of the hospital. � Other key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Rigorous and systematic analysis of quality, revenue, and supply data; monitoring and analysis of clinical and non-clinical data; attend regularly scheduled meetings; design and implement data collection tools.
Qualifications:
CANDIDATE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Required Background Experience A minimum of three years of healthcare related experience including financial management, materials management, contracting and/or value analysis in the perioperative setting is required.
Three to five years OR, Surgery Center, or Surgical Services management experience preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of financial implications of materials, equipment, and human resources is required.
Education, License and Certifications A Bachelor�s degree in Business or Health Administration is required. Master�s in Business or Health Administration or related field required (or achieved within 2 years of hire).
