| JOB TITLE: Manager, Office of Sponsored Projects LOCATION: Geisinger Office Building I DEPARTMENT: Research Admin. WORK SCHEDULE: Days WORK TYPE: Full Time (1.0 FTE) JOB SUMMARY: The Manager, Office is Sponsored Projects is responsible for establishing processes and providing support for pre and post award grant management, including but not limited to identifying federal and non-federal research funding opportunities, providing grant writing assistance and supporting the grant submission process to advance faculty scholarship and institutional initiatives (pre-award) and account maintenance, oversight, billing/invoicing, reporting, compliance and closeout (post-award). The Manager will be responsible for managing support staff and regularly interact with research leadership, department chairs, individual faculty, and service line administrators to help support the growth of Geisinger’s research portfolio and ensure adequate support for the proposal & submission process and post award management. COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrates working understanding of grants/contracts pre-award and post-award management including complexed, multi-component/multi-institutional submissions. Displays understanding of federal regulations and requirements related to sponsored project.
Knowledge of cost and financial accounting principles, practices and procedures, internal control systems, and Uniform Guidance principles.
Experience in developmental and plain-language editing, substantive editing, stylistic editing, and copy editing required.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively in both academic and corporate cultures.
Superior organizational skills, exacting attention to detail, and high-quality work standards with demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize tasks, learn quickly and adapt to new circumstances. Excellent analytical, comprehension, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Comfortable with interactions with scientists, clinicians, research sponsors, industry representatives, and granting agencies.
A team player who can operate independently when required; strong technical and business writing skills. Proactive, with a service-oriented approach and the ability to interact successfully with a broad range of professionals, from researchers to support staff, to senior executives. Ability to work effectively, be proactive, persistent, persuasive and resilient under pressure, and with constant and concurrent deadlines. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Required Experience: A minimum of five years of grant, financial, or related experience required.
Preferred Experience: Two years of management experience preferred.
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science or related field required.
Preferred Education: Master’s degree preferred.
Required Certifications or Licensures: None. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is typically performed in an office environment. Minimal travel between sites may be required.
