The HIM Tech I is required to ensure receipt of all discharged medical records each day so they need an understanding of where medical records are created and housed throughout the organization. The HIM Tech I is responsible for assuring that all patient records and loose documents are scanned and indexed into OneContent with the highest level of quality possible and within the established priority and turnaround time. The HIM Tech I should have knowledge of general clerical duties of the department including operating and troubleshooting all software and hardware within the department that affects their job duties. The HIM Tech I is responsible for making available the medical records needed for patient care, chart completion, coding, audits, and other hospital operations. The HIM Tech I is required to provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers, demonstrate a positive attitude, and promote teamwork by offering assistance to others.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Thirty (30) to Thirty-five (35) wpm net typing speed required.
Minimum one year medical records experience in a hospital, physician's office or other outpatient health care facilities.
