Position Summary The primary responsibility is to ensure timely processing of the patient records. Documents are prepared and processed into the electronic medical record (EMR) system (or maintained on paper) at discharge. The Health Info Tech will ensure receipt of all inpatient/outpatient/emergency department records; review each patient record for poor original, identify items that cannot be scanned, record patient identification on each document, and will group like documents in the appropriate order.
The Health Info Tech will be responsible for the integrity of medical records that are copied and/or released. Ensures all medical record compliance and HIPAA standards are met by reviewing the medical record prior to release and verifying all authorizations, subpoenas or requests. The Health Info Tech will collect, log and process all money obtained for record processing/copying.
Primary Duties 1. Retrieves discharge records for prep, scanning and indexing. Paper charts may require assembly. Analyzes records for deficiencies and assigns in iDoc to appropriate physician. 2. Sends notification letters to physicians regarding incomplete records. 3. Assist physicians with chart completion process. 4. Send charts to storage per records retention policy. 5. Grant access to new employees/contractors and physicians. 6. Assist with release of information including logging release of information requests, identifies appropriate method of record release. 7. Assist birth mothers with completion of newborn birth certificates. 8. Review transcribed reports for correct visit number, date of admission, patient name and location and inserts them in the patient record on the nursing wings. 9. Assists customers per service excellence requirements. 10. Other duties as appropriate.
Qualifications:
