The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology of WVU Medicine and West Virginia University have multiple opportunities for Faculty Certified Nurse Midwives. Our midwives collaboratively practice with Faculty OB Generalists, Uro-Gynecologists, and High Risk Obstetricians, allowing complete care for midwifery patients. Location Opportunity 1: At our academic and level 1 trauma medical center, J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, in Morgantown, WV with rotations at local clinics. Morgantown is located just over an hour south of Pittsburgh, PA and three hours from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, MD. Morgantown is consistently rated as one of the best small metropolitan areas in the country. The area offers the cultural diversity and amenities of a large city in a safe, family-friendly environment. There is also an excellent school system and an abundance of beautiful homes. Location Opportunity 2: In a community setting at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon, WV. Buckhannon is a college town located less than 200 miles from major metropolitan centers. You’ll find locally owned restaurants, specialty shops & boutiques, and West Virginia hospitality. West Virginia has plenty of outdoor activities, gorgeous mountains, lakes, and scenery, with skiing, hiking, white-water rafting, running trails and all outdoor activities imaginable. Duties: The successful candidate(s) will practice as a Certified Nurse Midwife. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate(s) will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, it is expected that candidates sustain an outstanding, extramurally supported research program. Qualifications: Candidate must be a Certified Nurse Midwife and eligible to obtain an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) state license. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor ranks, a demonstrated track-record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and publications in high-impact journals are required. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
