The VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System (VAEKHCS) is currently recruiting for Primary Care Physicians (Outpatient) located in Topeka and Leavenworth, KS. Board certification or Board Eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine is preferred. You will be responsible for providing primary care for a diverse group of veterans. Education and length of practice will be considered by a Market Pay Review in determining the final compensable salary (Base Pay + Market Pay). Work Schedule: Traditional/non-Traditional Shifts Financial Disclosure Report: Inpatient/Outpatient Scope of Practice Recruitment/Relocation incentives may be authorized for highly qualified applicants. Permanent Change of Station (PCS) is authorized for highly qualified applicants. PCS is the relocation of a household in connection with a transfer between duty stations or facilities (exceeding a 50 mile radius). The Education Debt Reduction programs offers eligible applicants up to $200,000 (tax free!) for reimbursement of qualifying educational loans. Please contact Human Resources at this medical center and speak with the Education Debt Reduction Program Coordinator for additional information. Duties: Clinical duties include providing primary care medical services in outpatient clinics, providing inpatient/emergency care, providing inpatient/outpatient coverage, back up coverage for the emergency room, and taking calls for inpatient coverage. You will contribute to the achievement of quality care standards, write orders for diagnostic testing, prescribe medications, take calls for inpatient coverage, consult with specialty services and utilize computerized/electronic medical records. Also, the select will provide patient care in accordance with professional standards, core values and commitment to service excellence. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of appointment and Basic Life Support/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (BLS/CPR) required. The employee shall participate in activities of the VAMC that are designed to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (The Joint Commission) and other regulatory agencies as they apply to the position.
