This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more Work Schedule: Monday - Friday or compressed Financial Disclosure Report: Not required This position is located in the Specialty Care Service at the Spark M. Matsunaga VA Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. The physician will report directly to the Chief of the Endocrinology. Major duties include but are not limited to: · Conduct physical examinations and treatment, coordination of medical care with primary care providers, other subspecialists, social workers, data managers, pharmacists, dietitians, nursing, and other personnel as a leader of a multidisciplinary team. · Utilize telemedicine and possibly travel to provide care to outer Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) · Ensures that high quality patient care is delivered in a resourceful and efficient manner. · Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with diabetes and other endocrine disorders. · Perform procedures related to the endocrine, diabetes, and metabolic diseases subspecialty. · Provide patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and treatment of disease. · Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that enable them to establish and maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and other members of the health care team. · Potentially expand on a Clinician-Educator role as part of an Academic Affiliation with University of Hawaii. · Provide resident and/or trainee supervision, as necessary and/or appropriate. · Work collaboratively with other specialists and Primary Care PACT teams to ensure patients receive continuous quality care and to provide endocrinology training as requested. · Will be required to travel to Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) located within VA Pacific Islands Health Care System. Schedule will be based on identified Veteran needs. Locations may include but not limited to Maui, Kauai, Hilo, Kona, Guam, and American Samoa. · Other duties as assigned by Chief of Endocrinology and/or Associate Chief of Staff for Specialty Care and/or Chief of Staff.
