The Department of Veterans Affairs, VHA, Albany Stratton VA Medical Center ( SVAMC ) is seeking a Section Lead in Rheumatology. The SVAMC division is closely integrated with the division of Rheumatology at the Albany Medical College (AMC). The Rheumatologist will perform indicated services for conditions in both inpatient and out-patient clinical settings. Relocation/Recruitment incentive may be authorized for highly qualified applicants. The Section Lead Rheumatologist will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties: Evaluate and care for patients with rheumatic disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, gout, systemic lupus, polymyositis, vasculitis, granulomatosis with polyangiitis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, bursitis, and other rheumatic conditions. Teaching and research activities. This pertains to colleagues, residents, medical and nursing students, nursing and other ancillary staff. Resident mentorship during their rotation at the SVAMC (outpatient and inpatient Rheumatology). Must be able to deliver interventions throughout the full spectrum of Rheumatological care; i.e. s/he is expected to maintain good diagnostic and therapeutic acumen. Assigns patient care management by defining objectives, priorities and deadlines; general guidance is provided but functions and responsibilities are carried out independently. Informs supervisor of progress and section matters. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm- Some occasions may require work outside of this core schedule.
