The Admin Assessment Specialist assists with inquiries and admissions, displaying expertise in crisis intervention skills and guest relations with a firm belief that the patient receives the most appropriate treatment possible. The Admin Assessment Specialist should have the ability to interact daily with the treatment team, director, clinical manager, nursing department, health information services, medical staff, allied health and administration in such a way as to promote good relationships internally and externally with the general public.
EDUCATION Minimum: BS in psychology, social work or related field Preferred: MS in psychology, social work or related field.
EXPERIENCE Minimum: Two (2) years clinical experience in nursing or intake Preferred: Four (4) years previous experience in patient care in a psychiatric setting
American Heart Association BLS certification
Successful completion of CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Non- Violent crisis intervention certification course within 90 days of hire and maintained annually
Knowledge: Have knowledge of the American Psychological Associationâ��s current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, the principles and practices of mental health counseling and crisis intervention, the Florida Mental Health Act, local resources, signs and symptoms of substance abuse and basic psychotropic medications
Skills: Ability to: make rapid and accurate differential diagnosis efficiently; assess potential for danger or violence and intervene as clinically necessary to reduce this risk; exhibit skillful interpersonal, verbal and written skills; communicate in and comprehend the English language, establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, police departments, adult living facility operators, families and other natural support systems, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability or political affiliation; display sensitivity to the cultural needs and characteristics of the local community; represent the program well; respond to emergency situations quickly and safely with crisis intervention skills; multi-task; interact effectively with all levels of staff; display flexibility in adapting to changing conditions; be receptive to supervision and professional development; demonstrated capacity for: therapeutic attunement, empathy, and creative problem-solving, establish supportive trusting relationships with persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses and respect for client rights and personal preferences in treatment are essential.
