The Operational Improvement Engineer is responsible for working collaboratively and interdepartmentally to engage in the planning and implementation of improvement methodologies throughout the organization with the intent of assisting Benefis Health System in achieving its strategic priorities. Skilled in data aggregation, data analysis, and the deployment of the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Anaylize, Improve, Control) framework, this position plans and coordinates solution design, defines and documents milestones, and outlines schedules for completion. Additionally, the Operational Improvement Engineer identifies and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs), recognizes risks, implements process controls, and provides the framework to create consulting services for internal clients regarding strategic business planning, process and systems engineering and/or business transformation to design and develop new or improved business processes and capabilities. This position places strong emphasis on the following outcomes: achievement of long-term clinical and organizational quality outcomes, continued cost reduction, enhanced revenue capture, lead time reduction, strategic business growth, aggressive development and dissemination of best practices, and systemic elimination of waste.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports the efforts of the Operational Improvement Department in its overall support of Benefis Health System.
Works directly with System Director of Operational Improvement to identify opportunities and design/deploy improvement strategies aligned with assisting Benefis Health System and senior leadership in attaining departmental, entity, or system-wide goals and strategic initiatives/priorities.
Identifies areas which would benefit from improvement activities across Benefis Health System.
Works closely and collaboratively with all department members.
Leads stakeholders throughout project lifecycle from inception to control.
Demonstrates application of core business consulting processes and methodologies.
Demonstrates awareness of the responsibilities of the position and how it interfaces with the rest of the healthcare team.
Applies knowledge of problem-solving methodologies, tools for data analytics, and process improvement techniques.
Provides analytical data interpretation, consultation, and education.
Demonstrates the ability to identify and eliminate wasteful activities or processes in the organization.
Demonstrates high level or organizational skills and attention to detail.

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Systems, or Process Engineering
1-3 Years of Healthcare Experience Preferred.
Previous experience in Project Management preferred.
Previous experience in performance improvement activities preferred.
