The Inpatient Pharmacy Technician works in Pharmacy Service at the Roseburg VA Health Care System. The duties of this position include but are not limited to the following: Sterile Compounding: Many of the duties will be performed in the IV Room, setting up sterile products for dispensing, making appropriate record entries, reviewing IV administration records, and assisting inspectors, review teams, and other staff during routine inquiries and inspections. The incumbent is expected to maintain a high degree of accurate productivity and performance while being extremely sensitive to the specific contribution to total patient care. Assures the proper storage of all drugs and supply items. Makes regular physical inventory of stock items, notifying the procurement tech of drugs and supplies needing to be ordered, etc. Sterile Compounding Program Monitoring and Evaluation: The GS-7 Pharmacy technician will develop and maintain a sterile compounding training program. This program with train all pharmacy employees to include pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, residents and students. If retraining is required, customized retraining programs will be created to meet individual employee needs. This includes maintaining accurate training records. Ensuring proper cleaning and maintaining cleaning records will also be required. As requirements emerge, the GS7 technician will be responsible for ensuring practices meet the most current guidelines. The incumbent will execute process improvement and quality assurance related to sterile compounding. Lead Inpatient Technician: Coordinates and develops the schedule, planning and rotating duties of professional and non-professional staff with supervisor's approval. Advises supervisor of projected overtime requirements based on workload and staffing. Recommends to supervisor changes in staffing to adjust for workload volume and backlogs to meet organizational goals. Suggests ideas for planning, organizing and reviewing work in dealing effectively with non-professional staff in regard to employee-management concerns. Work Schedule: Varies: Includes some weekends.
