Regional Trauma Coordinator, Trauma RAC - Trauma Center - Duke University Hospital
Duke University Health System seeks to hire an experienced Regional Trauma Coordinator, Trauma RAC, who will embrace our mission of Transforming Lives Transforming Care. Our team is active in delivering exemplary care for each patient to ensure an excellent patient experience, every time.
Function: The Regional Trauma Coordinator, Trauma RAC is responsible for ongoing development of the RAC and coordination of the RAC activities, including quarterly meetings, committee facilitation, and registry development.
Registered Nurse in North Carolina
BSN from an accredited institution
Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN) certification within 18-months of employment.
Valid Driver's North Carolina Driver's License
ACLS, PALS, BCLS, TNCC, ENPC
Instructor in TNCC and ENPC
Two years' experience in trauma/emergency/prehospital care
Demonstrated ability in successful interpersonal communications and customer service skills
Experience in educational programming and systems development is required
Computer and database management skills required

Personal stressors should not affect ability to perform job duties
Primary liaison between Duke Trauma Center and the Duke RAC members.
Provide leadership to the Duke RAC.
Plan, coordinate and administer activities of assigned programs to include developing, implementing, and supervising related processes, services and systems.
Standardize the care of the trauma patient across the RAC through education, performance improvement, injury prevention, and legislative efforts.
Identify needs and provide education in the care of the trauma population for all healthcare providers (EMS, physicians, and nurses).
Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and recommend and implement modifications to improve program effectiveness.
Identify and address trends requiring change in trauma patient care practices through performance improvement initiatives.
Develop and provide reports for referring agencies to assist in performance improvement
Address opportunities for enhancing trauma system efficiency
Assist in the development of trauma care guidelines that would enhance trauma care across the region
Monitor and share any legislative issues that concern trauma care at the local, state, and national level.
Assist in the development of marketing strategies for the Duke Trauma Center.
Assist in the preparation of budgets and grants; monitor, verify and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds as appropriate.
Collaborate with other Trauma Centers in the state on educational, legislative, and other trauma initiatives.
Supports and adheres to Duke Hospital's policies, procedures, philosophy and mission, applying customer service standards and excellence in attitude and behaviors in performing all job responsibilities.
Represent the Duke Trauma Center and Emergency Service CSU in a variety of local and regional public forums, to include professional meetings, educational programs, and injury prevention program.
Coordinate and/or participate in public relations activities to include preparing and supervising the production of brochures, bulletins, newsletters and other promotional materials and/or publications, designing ads and fliers, and responding to inquiries; develop plans and schedules for release of publicity materials.
