This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The Physician Assistant for General Surgery has prescriptive authority and provides care for an identified patient panel independently or in collaboration with a physician. Core functions include diagnosing and treating acute and chronic health care problems, performing adult care check-ups, and prescribing medication and treatments. Teaches health promotion and disease prevention to patients. Includes other duties as assigned. Additional duties will include providing coverage in the pool of APPs who provide support to our core programs in Vascular Surgery, Thoracic Surgery (consults and clinics only), Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, and Chronic Pain procedures. Additional privileges may be granted based on a request for and approval of such privileges through the Credentialing and Privileging process (Chief of Staff's Office), consistent with the laws of the state where the APRN is licensed and related to their role.
