The Inpatient Pharmacy Program Manager supervises assigned Inpatient Pharmacy staff and provides direct oversight of all programmatic/operational functions in the provision of comprehensive pharmaceutical care activities in the Inpatient Pharmacy Section at the VA North Texas Health Care System, Dallas, TX. Job Summary: The incumbent operates independently with a broad delegation of authority to coordinate all aspects of pharmacy services within the Inpatient section. This position requires responsibility for complete technical/administrative authority over the work, which requires coordination and integration of work assignments within the pharmacy. All staff clinical pharmacist duties will be part of the position including the interpretation and verification of physicians' orders, patient education, profile review (allergy, drug interaction screens, etc.), supervising the technicians in the dispensing of appropriate medications, providing drug and policy information to the inpatient pharmacy staff and medical center staff and participation in educational programing within the service and medical center. Functions as Program Manager regarding planning, directing, controlling, and coordinating comprehensive inpatient pharmacy services. Effectively coordinates workload, directs inpatient processes, and supports short and long-range objectives and goals, solves problems, and operates within budget and staffing guidelines. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 1430-2300 (8-hour work schedule). May include weekends/holidays. Tour may be extended or adjusted to meet patient care needs.
