The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) sets the direction of nursing at Miami Cancer Institute, providing the leadership and vision to carry out a patient-centric nursing strategy that delivers high-quality and cost-effective health care consistent with the mission, vision and values of the Institute. As an integral member of the senior management team, this person holds a critical role in leading and managing system-wide oncological initiatives that ensure superior outcomes and standardization of nursing practice and research. They maintain a high level of awareness of current trends in healthcare in acute care and private practice settings to play a key role in the creation of long-term strategy for the organization. The CNO is responsible for leading efforts to build and strengthen the patient services care team, crafting bold strategies to ensure excellence in quality outcomes and patient satisfaction.
The Chief Nursing Officer reports to the Chief Operating Officer, Mark A. Davis, MD, MS, and serves as a key member of the Senior Leadership Council including Michael J. Zinner, MD, CEO, Leonard A. Kalman, MD, Executive Deputy Director and CMO, Dr. Davis, COO; and Deputy Directors Dr. Minesh Mehta, Dr. Manmeet Ahluwalia, and Dr. Guenther Koehne.
The CNO directly supervises two Assistant Vice Presidents of Nursing. A total staff of 551 reports to the position. This position will also lead through influence across the organization, working collaboratively with staff across all hospitals throughout the network.
A Masters’ degree in Nursing is required.
At least 10 years of management experience in a nursing leadership role including 5 or more years as a Chief Nursing Officer. Strong preference for experience in an academic setting.
Three or more years of experience as a senior leader in a recognized oncology program.
Recognized leader in nursing and advanced practitioner education and care/career advancement.
Significant experience with operations of multi-disciplinary clinics and ambulatory oncology services.
RN licensed or with the ability to be licensed in the state of Florida.
