Position Summary: The Emergency Services Representative is responsible for the clerical aspects of the Emergency Department operations including, but not limited to patient registration, clinical order processing, medical record maintenance, entry, financial counseling, and fee collections while serving as the focal point for communications in the department. This position is an intermediate level clerical position working under limited supervision. The work environment at times can be stressful, pressured, or hostile. Job duties must be performed in accordance with infection control procedures and patient care unit standards. Work situations are varied and require a service-oriented individual with the ability to respond to patients and families with sympathy, respect, and understanding. This position requires strong organization skills, prioritization, good judgment, diplomacy, and independent thinking. Internal contacts include staff and management throughout the organization. External contacts include patients, families, physicians, fire department personnel, police department personnel, emergency medical services personnel, and outside organizations.
Minimum Requirements: Completion of Unit Secretary (Unit Coordinator) vocational training course OR Previous patient care experience (minimum of 1 year or currently enrolled in clinical education program) OR Equivalent clerical experience (minimum of 1 year) in a medical setting
Education/Licenses/Certifications: High school graduate or equivalent preferred
