The University of California, San Diego (UCSD), Department of Pediatrics (http://www-pediatrics.ucsd.edu), and Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego (http://www.rchsd.org) are committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. We are seeking to recruit a Chief of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at UCSD and Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego.
Rady Children's Hospital is a 524-bed level 1 Trauma Center and serves as the region's primary and tertiary pediatric hospital, and as the clinical home of the UCSD Department of Pediatrics. The Division has a strong commitment to clinical care, quality improvement, community service and outreach, teaching, and research. The PEM Division houses an ACGME-accredited fellowship, has 8 PEM fellows and 1 PEM ultrasound fellow in training each year, and is the pediatric emergency medicine training site for over 200 residents and over 50 medical students. The main campus ED has a census of close to 100,000 visits per year (prior to COVID-19) and over 12,000 per year at our satellite location. The division also has 6 community pediatric urgent care centers with a combined census of about 60,000 visits per year (prior to COVID-19).
The dynamic and talented faculty team is comprised of 44 pediatric emergency medicine faculty, 15 urgent care pediatricians, and an allied health professional. Rady Children's Hospital and UCSD has faculty dedicated to all areas of mission including exceptional patient care, quality improvement science, clinical research, graduate medical education, EMS and disaster medicine, advocacy, point of care ultrasound, population health, simulation, and informatics.
The Division Chief will serve as a leader in the Department and will be greatly involved in expanding and strengthening the clinical, educational, teaching and research missions. This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial leader to guide the development of the vision and strategic plan that will lead the division into the future.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
