This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and a minimum of 4 years related experience. A Master's Degree in Taxation and/or CPA qualification is highly preferred.
The successful candidate will possess strong technical tax knowledge and interpersonal skills. This individual will also possess a high level of professionalism and integrity with a demonstrated ability to work productively with and gain the confidence of all areas within the organization. In addition, this individual should have the ability to successfully manage plans and bring closure to activities, tasks and projects, the ability to take initiative and prioritize workload in order to meet deadlines, and the ability to analyze and apply annual changes to the tax compliance process. This individual should also possess strong workpaper documentation and review skills that provide clear and concise support for tax filings.
This position will work closely with all areas of the Department of Finance.
The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assist in the preparation of Vanderbilt University Medical Center's Form 990 in a complete, accurate, and timely manner, ensuring compliance with all appropriate rules, regulations and disclosures;
Assist in the preparation of Vanderbilt University Medical Center's Form 990-T in a complete, accurate, and timely manner, ensuring compliance with all appropriate rules, regulations and disclosures;
Assist in the preparation of Vanderbilt University Medical Center's state and local tax returns and workpapers such as income and franchise tax, sales tax, business tax, and property tax;
Assist in the preparation of Vanderbilt University Medical Center's miscellaneous federal filings and workpapers such as Form 720;
Continuously evaluate and improve processes by analyzing, revising and promoting systems of internal control and other methodologies that ensure efficient and accurate tax reporting;
Research new disclosure requirements and regulatory developments, assist with evaluating their impact to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and proactively develop and implement plans to comply with new requirements;
Perform other tax related responsibilities as requested.
