In compliance with applicable New York and New Jersey State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) is mandatory for all MSK employees, contingent workers, and volunteers. Exceptions are permitted for those employees who request and receive an approved medical or fully remote exemption.
*Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. The Office of Development is seeking a Science Writer to join its dynamic, productive communications team during the early phase of a comprehensive fundraising campaign.
The ScienceWriter will play a key role in communicating MSK's institutional vision, priorities, mission, and achievements to the highest-level donors and donor prospects through diverse channels. This is an exciting time to join our department, which is innovating and growing our communications capabilities while gearing up for a transformational fundraising campaign!
As the Science Writer, you will:
Research, write, and edit diverse communications, including proposals, letters, reports, and talking points that differentiate MSK as a world leader in cancer care and research.
Translate sophisticated, scientific and medical information into clear, vibrant lay language.
Work closely with gift officers and creative teams to develop and execute project-specific communications strategies.
Participate in overall campaign strategy and communications.
Collaborate with team members to reach the highest possible standards.
At least 4 years of relevant writing experience.
An understanding of scientific and medical concepts, and the ability to translate complex concepts into clear and compelling lay language.
Previous experience working on a comprehensive fundraising campaign or in an academic medical center and with research faculty and clinicians is a plus.
Experience in PR helpful.
