In compliance with applicable New York and New Jersey State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) is mandatory for all MSK employees, contingent workers, and volunteers. Exceptions are permitted for those employees who request and receive an approved medical or fully remote exemption.
*Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK.
Note: Individuals are eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster five months after receiving the second dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or two months after the J&J vaccine.
Job Description
The Accounting Department at Memorial Sloan Kettering is seeking an Accountant to join our team. Join us today and help make a difference every day!
You will:
- Collect, record, summarize and report accounting transactions consistent with generally accepted accounting principles for healthcare and not-for-profit entities.
- Prepare monthly analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts. This includes ensuring the accuracy of data in each account by researching the nature of recorded transactions, reviewing underlying supporting documentation (vendor bills, etc.) and preparing journal entries as applicable. This may also include preparing monthly reconciliation schedules, preparing and monitoring grant-related activities as well as maintaining sub-systems of the General Ledger.
- Develop, maintain and distribute ad-hoc reports and financial models as needed.
- Prepare financial information to be provided to the external auditors and other regulatory agencies.
- Provide "back-up" assistance to other Accountants in the General Accounting department by learning the day-to-day functions and act as substitute periodically.
You are:

- Flexible in your approach and demeanor in order to align with the shifting demands of evolving circumstances.
You have:
- At least 1-2 years' experience in accounting or finance
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; experience with accounting software application a plus
- Experience working in healthcare/not-for-profit fields preferred
This position will have a hybrid work schedule (on-site/remote).
