In compliance with applicable New York and New Jersey State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) is mandatory for all MSK employees, contingent workers, and volunteers. Exceptions are permitted for those employees who request and receive an approved medical or fully remote exemption.
*Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK.

We are seeking a Data Scientist / Analytics Consultant who has both strong technical skills and a passion for applying them to real-world problems, to partner with the Vice Chair for Operations and Analytics (a physician), as well as other Radiology leadership to analyze and optimize the Department of Radiology's operations.
This position is part of the Embedded Analytics Program, which allows our analysts to be a full member of an operational team to truly understand and meet their needs, while still being part of a community of fellow analytical experts!
Sample projects include:
Demand Forecasting: Need for radiology exams is variable and changing. How can we anticipate future surges in demand in order to prepare operationally?
Schedule Optimization: How can we define scheduling policies that minimize patient wait times while maximizing productivity and staff satisfaction?
A storyteller, able to synthesize knowledge from a variety of sources and clearly communicate complex topics to non-technical audiences
Comfortable creating reproducible analyses using R (preferably) or Python and as comfortable with statistical methods
Deeply comfortable with relational databases and SQL, Tableau or a similar BI tool
4+ years of experience of using analytics and data science to impact key business decisions
The ability to choose the right technical approach and know that the simplest solution is often the best. Manage analytical projects from "question to answer" including problem framing, data collection and validation, exploratory analysis, statistical modeling, visualization, synthesis, and ongoing maintenance of reusable tools
