Position Summary: The Budget & Contract Specialist supports Federal, commercial or privately funded research activities through research award management for the pre-award and post-award phases. The Specialist prepares study budgets and contract agreements for new awards, and reviews and prepares budgets, contracts and contract amendments for active studies to maximize financial objectives for revenue, profit and cash flow. The Specialist ensures accurate records are maintained and in compliance with System and Institute policies, practices and governing rules and regulations. The Specialist also supports research billing review to ensure timely and accurate billing for the Research Institute. The work includes; reviewing research project budgets to ensure charges for patient services and supplies associated with research activities are fully recovered by the sponsor or billable to patients insurance; completing Medicare Coverage Analysis and billing plans to ensure all patient charges associated with research activities are billed to the appropriate parties; assisting in the analysis of patient accounts for proper payment from sponsors, patients, and/or third parties, and communicating research billing requirements, new regulations or changes to appropriate parties within billing and research departments.
Minimum Requirements: Previous experience in clinical trial award management to include contract and budget development and negotiation strongly preferred
Education/Licenses/Certifications: Bachelors degree in science, healthcare or other related fields; Four (4) years of directly related experience in clinical research administration may be substituted for educational requirements
