Job Summary The Behavioral Health Program Manager (BHPM) is accountable for the operational, human resource, quality and financial management of the assigned nursing specialty program. This manager works with the Administrative Director, Nursing Strategic Initiatives to translate department strategic plans and policies into a plan suitable to the unique operational needs of the program.
The BHPM has the primary responsibility for creating and maintaining an environment that cultivates exemplary patient care related to the behavioral health population across Harris Health System. The BHPM facilitates continuous quality improvement through collaboration with staff, nursing leadership, Clinical Resource Nurses, faculty, and researchers to develop, implement, evaluate, and modify care planning processes, policies, and procedures from a system approach. As a member of the nursing leadership team, the BHPM supports professional nursing practice with an emphasis on Behavior Health competencies and empowers nurses to continuously improve the delivery of safe, effective, compassionate, and efficient nursing care. The BHPM complies with standards as established by professional national and state organizations, evidenced-based practice, local, state, and national regulatory agencies, and institutional policies and procedures. The BHPM upholds high standards of integrity and ethical behavior, educates and mentors others, is a role model of professionalism; and participates in system, professional and community activities such as nursing organizations, nursing research, the community, and other organizations that shape behavioral health care delivery, standards, policies, and practices.
Degree: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with a bachelor's degree in nursing required. Masters degree in nursing required.
Licensure & Certification: a.Licensed to practice as RN in the state of Texas b.Certification in any level of Psychiatric and Mental Health nursing required within one (1) year of hire. c.Certification in SAMA required within 90 days of hire. d.Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program. e.Other certificates as required by unit/service.
Work experience: Three (3) years of work experience in related clinical area of practice.
Management experience: One (1) year related management /leadership experience is required. Administrative or Research experience preferred.
