Responsibilities:
- Checks all orders for completeness of information. Verifies patient information, preparation instructions, and proper physician authorization.
- Assists with the preparation of compounded sterile products under the supervision of a physician.
- Under direct supervision, performs compounding duties in an accurate and timely manner as per department guidelines.
- Appropriately utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Utilizes aseptic technique during all aspects of the compounding process.
- Maintains strict adherence to USP 797/800 standards and compliance for the handling of hazardous drugs.
- Calculates correct dosage volumes, and concentrations required during the compounding process.
- Performs required calculations for drug dilutions and reconstitution.
- Utilizes closed-system transfer devices (CSTD's) during all hazardous medication preparation
- Properly disposes of all hazardous waste generated during the compounding process.
- Assists in cleaning all controlled environments within the pharmacy area per daily, weekly, and monthly requirements.
- Prioritizes daily compounding workload to also complete batched preparations and complicated research regimens.
- Assists in keeping accurate temperature and pressure logs.
- Maintains proper control documentation of medications including lot numbers and expirations.
- Assists in maintaining accurate drug inventories.
- Prepares labels. Files and prepares billing. Basic data entry into department automation. Ordering of medication and supplies as directed.
- Assist with general cleaning, organization and maintenance of the pharmacy space to minimize particulate load and improve overall control.
- Completes and passes required annual technician competencies.
- Complies with all departmental and regulatory agency policies and standards of practice.
- Complies with all state and federal laws regulating the practice.
Salary Range: $19.00-$25.00

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum three to five years experience in a pharmacy with I.V. skills. I.V. certification preferred. Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board requirement recommended.
