The American Art Therapy Association, the nation’s leading non-profit organization for advancing the art therapy profession, is seeking a professional, organized, self-starter to play a pivotal role in advancing the mission of the American Art Therapy Association (AATA) by leading integrated communications strategies and supporting national and state-level advocacy efforts. This position is responsible for managing newsletter production, marketing campaigns, and digital content across multiple platforms, while also coordinating volunteer programs, coalition participation, and advocacy resource development.
Functions and Responsibilities
Member Services and Communication:
Answer phone and email or routes to the appropriate resources or staff
Helps members with online purchases or registrations and provides answers to frequently asked questions
Manage the creation, editing, formatting, and distribution of email communications and newsletters via Constant Contact and Naylor platforms.
Write and schedule email marketing for monthly continuing education (CE) events, mentorship programs, and conference volunteer opportunities.
Coordinate publication of content to the AATA blog including featured member profiles, CE blogs, and member-submitted advocacy content.
Create current and engaging content to manage and update the MyAATA member website, including resource libraries and forum posts.
Write and curate bi-weekly issues of Art Therapy Today, including original content and relevant third-party news and add to Naylor platform.
Mentorship and Program Support:
Supports our vibrant Shared Interest Group community ensuring users have an easy and meaningful experience connecting to each other to share support and resources
?Provide committee support, including scheduling meetings, updating rosters and related material
Provide customer service support for annual conferences and other events throughout the year
Assist with regular member meetings, including providing registration support and sending reminder emails
Coordinate with Chapters to ensure yearly Committee and Chapter rosters are updated in AATA's internal database
Administer the Mentor Match Program: suggest matches manually, host monthly virtual meetings, and manage cohort surveys.
Coordinate the volunteer program for the annual conference, including creation of sign-up forms in Impexium and on-site support.
Community Resources and Advocacy Support:
Stay updated and aware of current events regarding the Arts & Mental Health, specifically in national trends, and legislation.
Act as Liaison in national arts and mental health coalition meetings, keeping abreast of sign-on letters opportunities.
Proactively engage member-experts and seek external resources to support members’ work with various marginalized populations.
Track member-led state campaigns
Promote state advocacy efforts via blog posts and updates in Art Therapy Today Newsletter.
Support state licensure campaigns by drafting materials (fact sheets, letters, one-pagers) and liaising with legislators and chapter leaders.
Update major advocacy resources annually and manage advocacy-related content on member website
Support annual advocacy presentations for the AATA Conference

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills Required
An extremely well-organized and detail-oriented approach to daily tasks
Bachelor’s Degree and experience with office administration, association experience preferred
Exceptional communication and customer service skills
Autonomous go getter
Familiar with MS Office 365, experience with common association platforms (including but not limited to Impexium, Higher Logic, Elevate) with the ability to adapt to new technology quickly
Customer service, administrative, and team experience
This position offers a flexible, remote work environment. You will primarily work remotely, allowing you to enjoy the convenience of working from home. However, occasional in-person meeting attendance will be required for key meetings, team collaborations, or other important in-person activities.
